How Much Does Building a Home Cost?

As you might only imagine, the answer to this question is elusive, with so many variables built-in that could drastically impact the cost.

However with that said, designers typically use a "cost per unit", or "cost per square foot" method of preliminary estimating construction costs in the industry.

According to (http://www.homeadvisor.com/cost/architects-and-engineers/build-a-house/) the average cost to build a new house comes in at $296,094, which would put a 2,000 square foot home costing about $150 per square foot.

This will obviously vary greatly with all the costly variables involved, so the cost could range between $181,049 and $442,515.

Larger, higher end custom homes can average $260 per square foot.

Costs will change just based on materials available in the location of the project. The best way to get a ballpark estimate is to contact an architect, and or builder. Often times, general price per square foot is something an architect or builder will supply without even having a contract.
