How long does it take for design?
Great Question. Design time varies significantly based upon the size and complexity of a project.
A 1,200 SF residence may only take a few days for a sketch, but a 5,000 SF commercial project may take a week or two.
There are several factors that contribute to longer design times.
1. Is unclear goals, visions, or program.
2. Changes from the initial information.
3. Complexity, such as fitting too much program into a footprint that doesn't fit.
The best approach however, is to be clear about the expectations of the turnaround time needed. Your architect will work closely with you to find a deliverable time that works for both parties.
